whatimwearing: vintage silk jacket, levi skinny jeans, marc jacobs shirt, topshop chained satchel

Found this beautiful silk jacket by complete mistake a couple weeks ago while I was suppose to be out running errands that had absolutely nothing to do with shopping (but of course, im far from surprised). I hung it on my clothes rack and forgot about it until I came across it again and decided to take it out today. I paired it with my Marc Jacobs shirt and some jeans and sneakers for a casual look. The bag i bought from topshop just adds another shade of blue to the mix.

Hana Jirickova looks amazing on the April cover of Vogue Latin America and her editorial spread inside is just as good.

Jirickova is stranded on a tropical island with only one hope of survival pose and take pictures for your life! The spread is breath taking and the styling is beautiful. Sarah Gore Reeves has done a wonderful job styling this editorial with pieces from Chanel, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, and Bottega Veneta. She has slowly been winning me over with her consistent output of feminine energy paired with a masterful play of colors throughout her work.

Dum Girls & Indie Boys

whatimwearing: Prabal Gurung For Target shirt, Leather Pants &Blazer, Aldo Boots

There's nothing more relaxing on my day off than listening to music and becoming inspired or lost in deep thought; Today was no different. The Dum Dum Girls 2nd album , Only In Dreams, is an amazing indie pop album and conveys so many emotions as well as kick-ass music. I normally have a thing against filtering my pics, seeing as this is a blog and not Instagram, but it went with the whole, low-fi, garage indie pop, no care attitude. In my opinion, this genre of music has a had an impressive impact of current trends vast across the board, not only pertaining to music, but including movies, fashion, photography, and even food. That's a completely different stream of ideas though...

Baroque With Expensive Poses

Read Article →

I fought hard for this shirt; I fought VERY hard for this shirt. 2 whole days of tedious eBay bidding, which i found slightly exhilarating as it was my first time ever bidding on something. I even went as far as to download the eBay app on my phone, and was even bidding at work! Shamelessly, I took my break early to place my final bid, and i ended up winning. This shirt was worth the excessive checking of my phone every 5 seconds of the day.

whatimwearing: Vintage Shirt, Calvin Klein Lounge Pants, Aldo Boots

I wore it with my Calvin Klein Lounge Pants for a very relaxed and flowing look (plus it was a breezy warm day, so it just felt right). I absolutely love the Baroque style print of the shirt as well as the colors, very classic Versace in the late 80's... SO I decided to take some pictures, dare I say it, worthy of being a Versace Ad in Vogue or something- not really, but I can dream, right?

Saving Ungaro.

Read Article →

Today saw brands such as Stella McCartney, Maiyet, Giambattista Valli, Paco Rabanne, just to name a few debut their FW13 collections, but the collection that most piqued my interest was that of Emanuel Ungaro.

Ungaro was a fashion powerhouse in the 80's & 90's with its trademark florals and Emanuel's mastery of the art of sexual temptation and persuasion. He made polka dots and animal prints into a captive spell of men, for woman to drape themselves in his garments and become sirens. The fall of Ungaro had a trickle effected, starting in the late 90's when Ungaro sold the house to Ferragamo which hindered the financial stability of Ungaro. The event that turned the creaking dam into a rushing torrent of downfall was the retirement of Ungaro is 2005 and selling the label to Asim Abdullahwho had ho previous knowledge or experience in fashion...

This shortly led to to a swinging door of designers coming through the label, greatly tarnishing the credibility and name of the label. It was the decision to have celebrity Lindsay Lohan added on a creative director, that stunned  and puzzled the fashion world and took the label down to almost a level of pure comedy. Well, in the present, Up-and-coming designer Fausto Puglisi's turn at the Ungaro's helm to, hopefully, steer the label back to clear waters and restore faith in the house's name.

one of Puglisi's looks from his FW13 collection.

Puglisi's collection for Ungaro was a more model step away from the usual Ungaro look but incorporated some of the trademark elements that brought the house fame. The usage of leopard prints and polka-dots were an homage to classic Ungaro, with some pieces having a more graphic and lack of sexual driven drapery being more related to Puglisi's own work, especially with the golden decor. The over all look of the collection was a strong return for the label, with its bold one-armed blouses and sleek graphic dresses being the stand out pieces of the collection. Although, Puglisi has interjected more of himself into the collection than he inticipatedor even cared, I see this as the gateway for Ungaro to finally comeback with force and return to former glory.

This collection honestly changed my outlook on fashion and what it means to be sexy and effortless. That lemon-grapefruit print defined spring/summer 2011 as the season of fruitful designs. My Apparel Design final project was inspired by this line (all of the pieces all created are scattered across the country with different friends) and I will never forget it.

whatimwearing: levis jeans, sneakers, thrifted button down & gold belt, UO jacket, Cheap Monday Pony Hair Necklace

Finally decided to try out my golden belt that I thrifted a couple weeks ago. I was so surprised, flattered, and honored that it fit around my waist and I didn't have to hold my breath in and suck, basically, my entire body in to get it to stay. It seems that all of a sudden I've acquired this obsession with all things gold (jewelry that is). I have no idea where it cam from, but I've decided to turn my summer into an experiment to drench myself in every piece of gold jewelry I can snatch. I'm still on the fence with the idea of gold clothing, seeing as I have a subconscious dislike of the idea. Weird.

My necklace has pony hair on it, and absolutely love to pet it. I think I brushed it for like 20 minutes one day...-- Anyways, im a little upset that the chain is so short, but after wearing it out, I can see that it would be very painful for this shockingly heavy piece of metal to continuously sling into your chest. Ouch.

whatimwearing: thrifted sweater & hat, h&m jacket, levis shorts via urban outfitters, UGG Boots

Had a few minutes before work today and decided to take a couple of snapshots. Yesterday's weather didn't give way to allowing me to take beautiful pictures. It literally rained all across the US which was sad & hilarious at the same time. Since bright yellow is one of the "it" colors for spring, I broke out my lemon skull sweater and took it from there. I haven't worn my SHORT shorts in so long that it felt like a long lost reunion sliding them on. My favorite pair (for those who know me, its OBVIOUS) of shorts would be these, not just for the slight ode to vintage daisy dukes in color and fit, but because of the messy, yet aesthetically appealing arcs of twisted and bound strings of denim that loop in the front. I love how unplanned things that go right look, and these are no exclusion. The overall look is slightly militant with just enough playfulness added.
